Happy Homemaker Monday- Jan. 19,2026
BRR!!! It is certainly cold here in the central part of the United States. We are having below zero wind chills that are to only get worse as the day goes on. Grab a cup of your favorite coffee or tea, cozy up to your computer, tablet, laptop, etc. and join us at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom where Sandra hosts this amazing series. A place where homemakers have a chance to share a part of their lives and homes with the rest of us.
It was a busy weekend here and so my planning is not as well prepped as what I was hoping it would be, but we will get through and survive just fine. The week will go on, even if I don't have my stuff together as I would hope for.
The Weather in My Neck of the Woods:
COLD!!! As I said before, it is just cold here. I see the temperature is at 3 degrees with a negative 8 windchill. It seems as though the coldest weather of the season is upon us, which is the weather that I do not like. We are to have colder temps most of the week and a couple of chances for snow. YUCK!!! Days like this really make me wish for spring, sunshine, and warmer weather.
Things That Make Me Happy:
Sunshine, a good book, a warm blanket, cozy socks, my grandbabies, and a good fire in the stove with a pot of soup for dinner. Those are the things that make me happy in weather like this. As I sit here thinking about going on to feed the animals and do the work that needs to be done outside, I cringe to think of leaving the warmth of the house.
Book That I Am Reading:
Debbie Macomber is one of my mom's favorite authors and I have read quite a bit of her books, but this one is a little late in the season for me as I usually read Christmas stories in November and December, but I found this one the new book shelf at the library and I decided to go ahead and read it. It is a rather short book, and I think that I will thoroughly enjoy it.
What's on my TV today:
Tonight, the college football championship! GO IU HOOSIERS!!!! IU versus Miami for a top 10 football championship. Since we are rather close to the IU area, I am certainly rooting for them. An undefeated season with a fantastic quarterback, coach, and a team that is talented beyond measure. Are you watching and who are you rooting for? (I won't dislike you if you think Miami will win. LOL!)
My husband is having bacon, eggs, and toast. I think that I will have a hard-boiled egg. I must eat something, and I don't think that I want oats, so I guess it will be an egg. Since I am taking three medicines at the moment, I feel the need to eat before the morning meds have to be taken. I have had my coffee and a banana already.
On The Lunch Plate:
I will either have some cheese and crackers or I will make some tuna salad. For some reason, tuna salad sounds delicious, although it will be a cold meal on such a cold day. I might have a baked potato with cheese, but I don't think I need the starch from the potato.
On The Dinner Plate:
Leftover chili will be dinner, and I may have a potato, if I don't for lunch with chili on top of it and some cheese. I enjoy eating potatoes with toppings on them and I think I have sour cream left to add to the chili and cheese. YUMMY!!! a nice warm meal to watch the game with.
On The Menu:
I don't have a menu planned for the week and that is on my list of to- dos for the day. Along with planning a training for my Pink Zebra team members. I am also working on what craft shows I will participate in this year. I just found a new one that is close to home, and I plan to work it. I will make my deposit this week.
On My To-Do List:
* Menu
* Daily Cleaning
* Pink Zebra Training
* Social Media planning
* February Posts for Pink Zebra VIP group
* Laundry
* Feed and water chickens, pigs, and turkeys. Make sure rabbits have fresh water access as well.
* Stay warm!!!
New Recipe I Want to Try:
I plan to can chocolate syrup this week. My grands love chocolate milk, and I can make a much healthier syrup than I can purchase at the store. I will try to make two batches of it this week. I may also can some homemade SpaghettiOs. Another food for the grands.
What I'm Creating:
I guess since I am not really working on any kind of craft, I will have to say my syrup that I am planning to can. I am also working on my organization for my home. Do those count?
No Words Needed:
A gentle reminder that we are all equal in Christ's eyes, and we need to be kind and treat others well.
Have a blessed day! From our family to yours.

Enjoyed visiting. Didn't know chocolate syrup could be canned, a great idea! I need to think of some ideas of meals for my grandkids too as they will spend a week here in April while the parents are on vacation (4,5 and 6 years old)... hummm spaghetti is an easy one, sheppard's pie, balony with mashed potatoes and....???
