Update on Granddoll
For those of you that have been reading my blog for long, you are fully aware that my granddoll is very important to me and that her diagnosis of Blount's Disease was a scary time for myself and well as the rest of the family.
She had another surgery about 3 months ago and I am happy to say that the doctor says her legs are doing good. The right leg is completely straight and doing well. We still have a way to go with her left, but it is much straighter than it was before this journey began almost over 2 years ago.
We return to the doctor in another three months to see how she is improving and I am hoping at that time, we get a true timeline as to when her last surgery will be. I would like this ordeal to be finished before she starts school. It has been a challenging road, but I am thrilled with the surgeon and the progress that we have had so far.
For anyone that does not know what Blount's Disease is, it is a growth disorder of the tibia that causes the lower leg to angle inward, resembling a bowleg. It is also known as "tibia vara". I wrote a post about Blount's Disease, which can be found here
This is a photo that was taken of my grand's legs that shows some of the bowing. Here was early on just a month or so before we were to meet with the surgeon. A couple of months ago. You can see the difference in both legs, but tell the left still needs some straightening.

Praise God there’s something the doctors can do to help! She is adorable.......
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am so thankful that the surgery is helping to straighten them.
DeleteThrilled to see the progress and so glad you have found a doctor that can help.
ReplyDeletePrecious little Granddoll !!
Thank you!
DeleteCarol, thank you for visiting my blog this morning. We actually got a good bit of rain while in Granger, but the temperatures were so nice we really couldn't complain. My granddaughter had her grad party this past Saturday and we held our breath that the rain would hold off and it did, thankfully. I am so glad to hear that your precious is receiving excellent care for her legs. It is remarkable what the medical field is able to accomplish. Praying she continues to flourish. Regarding the name of the shop, I am trying to remember. I think it was Living something, but am not sure. I thought I would not forget, but alas. There are so many nice and fun shops and places to eat that you will not want to miss anything. So many bakeries and chocolate shops, not to mention restaurants. We ate at Clementines. I did an update on my blog when I realized I left that off.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. It is amazing what the medical field can do. I am sure that if we get to visit there, we will find it.
DeleteI'm so glad to hear this, Carol. It must be a great relief to know that so far, so good. She's adorable!
ReplyDeleteThank for stopping by my blog the other day. Most appreciated!
It is such a blessing! I appreciate you stopping by mine as well.
