Weekend Fun

As many of my readers know, we are avid campers in the summer and fall. This weekend was no different. However, we were looking for a nice and quiet place to go and close to home since my daughter and her fiancé wanted to go and he had to work. We found it at Johnson County Park.

It is a smaller campground and there is not a lot to do near there, but it was very clean and well taken care of and we were very pleased with it! The camp host was parked next to us and my husband and I spoke to him for a few minutes on Saturday evening. He is a retired gentleman and very friendly, but we discussed some of the rules and he does seem strict about them being followed.
The really nice thing about our site was that a fairly newly built playground was across the road from us and my grand doll loved that! She played so much on Friday and Saturday that she was in bed at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The rain was nasty Saturday morning, but it stopped by noon or so and the afternoon turned out to be quite pleasant. The temperatures were in the 70's and maybe lower 80's and it was pleasant. Evenings were cooler, but perfect for sitting around a campfire! I did not want to go in the camper as the weather was so nice. We knew the people across the drive from us as she was a former co=worker so that made the weekend even better.

Johnson County Park is actually located on the public side of Camp Attebury. There is also a horse park near there where shows take place most weekends from spring until late Oct. Johnson County Park is located near Edinburgh, IN and is somewhat of a country setting, but not really rural. The park has nice graveled lots as well as a very clean shower house and a nice playground. The also have older swings, a couple of cornhole games and a dump station . Very simple campground but nice. They do not allow tent camping, which being that I am local, I am thankful for as it used to be a lot more ran down than it is now and the host says it keeps a lot of the riff- raff out. Now, I know many good people that enjoy tent camping, but that area seemed to attract a lot of drug activity as well as many not so nice and unlawful citizens. I am pleased with the decision!
