Happy Homemaker - February 24.2025

And just like that we are at the last Monday in February, can it mean that spring might be right around the corner. Oh, how I hope. We still have snow on the ground, but I am excited to say that it is actually the warmest day we have had in several weeks and the sun is shining. We are even to have temperatures in the 50's most of the week, which makes this country girl quite happy. It means mud everywhere, which is not fun. The chicken coops are a mess and need to be cleaned, the ducks are covered in mud in their outside enclosure, and the geese are just messy anyway, Life will be a muddy mess this week, but it beats the extreme cold and snow we have had.

Now let's get on with our weekly Happy Homemaker post. I will link up with several other bloggers over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, where this series began. If you would like to read more of these, please hop over and check it out. She would love to have you visit and the bloggers that write this each week would appreciate some views as well.

THE WEATHER IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS:

Monday: 52/37 Cloudy

Tuesday: 56/33 Partly Cloudy

Wednesday: 61/38 Partly sunny with showers in evening

Thursday: 46/30 cloudy

Friday: 55/38 partly cloudy

Saturday: 45/27 partly cloudy

Looks as though the sun may hide quite a bit which will not make the temperatures quite as warm, but we will take it.

AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:

I can see the trees and the arch in my front yard. It is still not light enough to really see much. I prefer to get up early and get a start on my day. The grands will be here in a bit before school when mom leaves for work.

RIGHT NOW I AM:

Writing this blog post and looking at my planner to see what the day will bring. It is a week full of appointments and so I must keep all my details in order this week. I have two major ones. Eye doctor on Tuesday, where I am hoping they can change the issues I have with my eyes and dentist on Thursday. I went last week thinking I needed dentures on the top to be told that no there is plenty of time left before that. Tuesday is an important Google Meet with the speech teacher for my granddoll and the gentleman that writes her IEP, which she may not need next year.

SOMETHING FUN TO SHARE ( A BLOG, VIDEO, A TIP)

Hold These Walls [Music Video Single] - Buddy Mullins

This is an older song written by a dear friend of mine about being in the middle of a hurricane with a group of other Christians. I hope you will listen to it. I hope you enjoy it. It is a reminder to me that whatever we face Jesus is there and will be our strength if we allow it.

Here is a side-by-side photo of us as teens and now.

THINKING AND PONDERING:

As many of you are aware, we have two children expecting children within just a few weeks apart. Our son and his wife and due in early March and our daughter and her husband are expecting twins just a few weeks after that. Life is certainly going to be changing for all of us. We will be navigating 6 grandchildren, and those parents are in for some long nights. Our son and his wife and having their first and my daughter and her husband will have three under the age of 2. SHEW! What work and many sleepless nights that may be. I am just praying that the births all go well and that both moms do fantastic. Many adjustments will be made in the households, but I know that they are each very excited!

ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE:

Pictures, pictures, and more pictures as I am sorting out photos to go into different albums and scrapbooks. I will get it cleaned up soon. I also have some medicine on it and my book.

ON MY TV:

Fire Country on Friday nights as it is one of my favorites. My husband and I will be watching Someone Like You tonight by Karen Kingsbury. I recorded it last night as we had to be gone while it was on.

LISTENING TO:

I plan to catch up on some podcasts this week. I have been so bad lately about not listening to anything as I have not charged my headphones. All I currently hear is the lull of the fan that is circulating heat behind the wood stove. I will be so glad to turn it off soon.

ON THE MENU FOR THIS WEEK:

Today: Crockpot steak and potatoes, baked beans,

Tuesday: Chicken tenders and corn

Wednesday: Pork roast with carrots, green beans and potatoes

Thursday: Probably soup for me and hamburgers for my husband as I am having some major dental work.

Friday: I will be working so I have no idea.

Saturday: Probably will go out or have pizza.

ON MY TO DO LIST:

Today: Meet my daughter and grandson, homeschool the youngest granddoll, laundry, clean bathroom

Tuesday: Google Meet, husband has doctor appointment, reschedule my appointment, clean kitchen, homeschool, work my side business

Wednesday: Eye doctor, homeschool, clean bedroom,

Thursday: Dentist, homeschool, clean extra bedroom, laundry, finish plans for side business game night

Friday: shop for baby shower on Saturday, clean curtains, game night for side business

Saturday: baby shower for my daughter with a few friends, we will host a larger one after the babies are born.

WHAT I AM CREATING:

As I previously mentioned, I am working on scrapbooks, and I am making introductory letters for new pen pals. I have seen so many neat ideas and I am working on mainly doing trifolds with a few little stickers, etc. for my new friends. Here is an example of what they will look like.

MY SIMPLE PLEASURE:

Nothing quite like a quiet morning with a cup of coffee and my Bible. This is how I prefer to start my mornings.

LOKING AROUND THE HOUSE:
I see some things that need picked up, but I also see the amazing paper craft cart that I was able to purchase this week with some well-earned money. I am thankful that God gave me a chance to get it as it will aid in the scrapbooking.

FROM THE CAMERA:
The badge that my granddoll earned for reading 50 books on the website that they use for extra work at school. I am so proud of her! She has improved so much since we moved her from the private school. I was convinced that the teacher was the issue, and I sure believe that she was now that she seems to be thriving in public school.

PRAYER LIST:
So many things are on my mind. One special request that I have is for everyone to pray for my brother. We are not really close. He is the type of person that knows more than you do, but he was evicted from the home he has lived in for 5 years with no place to go and no steady income. Please pray that something comes along. I can't allow him to live with us.

BIBLE VERSE, DEVOTIONAL

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy week and I hope that you have found something of interest to you in this post.

  1. What an exciting time for you, with new grandchildren coming! I hate mud more than snow! Your dinner sounds yummy.
