My January Reading List
A quick trip to the library yesterday inspired this post, as I picked up several books that I am wanting to read this month and if I post them here, I will surely be more inspired to finish them faster and let my readers know that I have indeed read them.
There is not a certain genre to these or author or even a theme. Just books that caught my attention that I intend to read.
This is the book that I am currently reading. If you have read any of my reading posts, you are well aware that I love Amish stories. Last year, I discovered Shelley Shepard Gray and I found that she is now one of my favorite authors. Mystery and intrigue are in this story as Stephanie Miller makes a simple trip to the dollar store and becomes a witness to a murder, which puts her life in grave danger. Being sought by a drug dealer that has already murdered a man is not the normal life for this young Amish woman.
I usually don't read Christmas stories until November and December, but this little book caught my attention and I decided to go ahead and check it out. I have never read anything written by Richard Paul Evans, but with just 257 pages, I feel like it will be a easy read. The story is about a young girl that has left an abusive relationship and truly cares nothing about Christmas, but a chance meeting at the mall may change all of that.
Another Christmas story? Yes, it is. I always check the new bookshelf and was surprised to see this on the shelf. Debbie Macomber is a good author, and I have read several of her books. I actually started reading this in the library, while my grands played in the new area for kids.
A delayed ferry boat will bring people together during the holiday season and witnessing a Christmas miracle, might be exactly what Avery needs to reignite her spirit for the holidays.
As I was helping my granddoll search for books, we were talking about the Little House on The Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and I was showing her some of them, when I found this. Written by Heather Williams, this says is it part of a series Little House Big Adventures. There were several books there written by her and I will be checking more of them out. I am very interested in reading this and it will be my next read for sure.
I also discovered that I like audio books when I am in the car. I am using an app called Libby that is available from our library, but I have found a few books that I am planning to enjoy this year. I am currently listening to this one.
It is a great story and a gentle reminder that we truly need to know who people are before we trust them to be advisors for our families.
