The Yada Yada Prayer Group by Neta Jackson
Neta Jackson was a new author to me, but I must say she is a master storyteller and an author that keeps you engaged in the story and threw a twist into this story that I never expected at all.

As Jodi is preparing to go to the Chicago Women's Conference with the principal of the school she works for, she is unsure that she even wants to attend- after all, how can she possibly enjoy being thrown into a room full of women isn't her idea of fun. She cares enough about her friend, Avis to go.

Once they arrive, the discover that they have an unexpected extra roommate, a stranger. Florida "Flo" Hickman. It's obvious by looking at Flo with the scar on her face that her life has not been an easy one. Not liking the idea of sharing a suite with a stranger makes Jodi even more unsure of this entire conference. Along with this stranger, the weekend brings many more into her life as they must do a prayer group with people that they do not know.

This particular group contains an ex-con, a former drug addict, a real estate broker, a college student, a principal, and a married mother of two. What could these women have in common and how will all 12 of them mange this prayer group for a weekend. What they don't realize at the time is that they will become more than just a conference prayer group, but friends. God can do amazing things!

Following many revelations over the weekend, these praying women decided that they would continue their group by email after leaving the conference, so the Yada Yada prayer group is formed. Each lady returns to her life and her area of the Chicago. Emails and prayer requests become a common thing, and Jodi finds that they have more to pray about that she originally knew they would. Some of the requests become more than email issues and the group decides to start meeting in person weekly on Sunday nights.

Jodi sees these women as friends but struggles at times to see how these women have lived their lives. After all, she is married with two kids that are good kids, her husband works hard, they have good jobs and live in the burbs. She is a good Christian and follows the "rules" for living a good life. She does care about these women though and shares their heartbreaks and life altering situations and she prays, but not like the prayers Avis prays.

As Jodi faces the biggest crisis of her life, she finds the strength and love of these newfound friends is exactly what she needs, and exactly why God put them into her life when he did. These friends have slowly taught Jodi, the "good Christian girl" of the group exactly what being a sinner saved by grace truly means.
