Happy Homemaker- March 3.2025
Good Morning and welcome to March! A new month and a bit closer to spring, which I know many of us are looking forward to following the cold and snowy weather that winter has brought to us. We struggled with a weekend that did not get temperatures that reached much higher than the 30's, but I know tomorrow we are forecasted to be in the 60's. Weather changes here in the Midwest seem to be rather large at times.
Oh well! Enough about that, let's get on with our Happy Homemaker Monday post and link up over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom and check out the other amazing bloggers that write and link up there as well. Each of these ladies have wonderful and amazing words to share and are busy as you will read making sure their homes and families are cared for in such a nice way.
THE WEATHER IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS:
We are to have decent weather this week with temperatures, but there are several days that we have good chances of rain. Temperatures will average 45-60 for daytime highs and lows in the 30's. Still cooler than I would like, and I don't think we need the rain, but it is better than snow.
AS I LOOK OUTSIDE MY WINDOW:
Considering, it is still very early morning (5:30 a.m.) it is still dark I truly don't see much except for the security light across the drive from us. I noticed the neighbor's motion light kicked on early, so I am sure a deer or a cat walked by it.
RIGHT NOW, I AM:
Sitting at the desk writing this post and enjoying my first cup of coffee. It is a delicious Blueberry Pie coffee from a company known as Sweetie Pie. I have never purchased that brand before, but I must say I will be looking for more as it is quite delicious. I actually purchased two new flavored ground coffees on Friday. The other one is S'mores by Happy Camper Coffee. I give them each 5 stars.
SOMETHING FUN TO SHARE ( A BLOG, A VIDEO, A TIP)
I have been listening to these two Mennonite cousins talking about many things including homemaking and I thought some of you might enjoy it too. It fits with this post.
THINKING AND PONDERING:
I truly have been thinking about trying to find another part time job that pays a bit more. I have been with the same home health care company for 17 years and I currently only make $11 an hour. Most fast-food restaurants are paying better than that. I know the owner does not really care about his employees, but I just feel as though he is shortchanging us when it comes to pay. I also worry about my brother as he has to be out of his house today and has literally nowhere to go. I can't let him live with us as he has two dogs, and we have tried it before, and his lifestyle is not like ours at all. It is scary to think about, but he won't take any advice that I give him.
ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE:
A mess that we won't talk about. I will attempt to clean it today. Of course, I have the grand doll today and need to teach preschool. I really need to visit my mom as well. We will see how it goes.
ON MY TV:
Fire Country
Probably a Christmas movie that I have recorded on the DVR.
LISTENING TO:
I will listen to some podcasts this week, I believe. I know I will listen to Honey, I'm Homemaker. I enjoy these two ladies. I also have a Point of Grace CD that I hope to listen to in the car.
ON THE MENU THIS WEEK:
Monday- Orange Chicken, Fried Rice and possibly asparagus
Tuesday _ Crockpot Steak, potatoes, spinach
Wednesday - Ham, black-eyed peas, corn, fried cornbread
Thursday - I won't be home.
Friday - Fish, macaroni and cheese, peas
ON MY TO DO LIST:
Clean my nightstand
pack for spring break next week
visit mom
clean house
HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
preschool
planning for vacation
daily Bible reading
daily housekeeping
LESSON I LEARNED THIS WEEK:
That as much as I want my brother to live a great life and have a steady job and income so that he can have a nice home, he is never going to take any advice that I give him. He believes that he is right no matter what and that he is a victim at all times. I hate that we can't be close, but I can't give him the mental energy that it would take to help him. It stresses me out and I don't need to be stressed. He is over 50 years old, and he is not any better than he was about 10 years ago when my husband and I gave him a place to stay, a job, and he wound up calling me names and telling me that he could do whatever he wanted in my home.
LOOKING AROUND THE HOUSE:
As I said before, it is very early morning here and I am enjoying stillness in the house. The woodstove is warm, and my coffee is delicious. I am thankful to have a nice warm home and a place to sleep. I see a few things that need picked up and I see some mail that I did not put away, but it is clean and cozy.
FROM THE CAMERA:
My precious little granddoll and her ice cream that we were able to get this last week. She thought it was so cute that she had to tell me it had eyes like her.
PRAYER LIST:
My daughter in law as she should go into labor with her first baby this week. Her due date is Friday. Also, my son as I am sure he will be more anxious than she is. Also, continued prayers for my daughter carrying the twins. It seems as the little girl is doing better, but could still be preemie.
BIBLE VERSE, DEVOTIONAL
How true these words are. I know people that are so fearful of leaving their homes, being in a crowd, and many other things, but God is where our trust needs to be.
So sad about your brother, but I sure understand! Some people just get in their own way so much, and will never take any advice. Subway and the other fast food places here pay $16.00 an hour! Your hourly wage is not fair!! I love flavored coffee, especially the S'mores.
