Happy Homemaker - Feb 3, 2025

Good Morning and welcome to the month of love. February is full of hearts and love as we celebrate Valentine's Day. The weather here today is absolutely beautiful. It is to be 67 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a far cry from the awful cold and snow we had just a few weeks ago. I know it will turn off cold again, but I am thankful for a day that seems to be spring shouting, " I am here".

I am feeling better although I am struggling with such a horrible headache today. I know it is the weather that is causing it, as I always struggle when massive weather changes occur. Seasonal issues, whether it is allergies or migraines are horrible, and I live in an area known for drastic and quick weather changes. Let's get on with our post.

I will be linking up with Sandra for this Happy Homemaker post over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom If you are interested in learning more about what this is and why we write it, you can hop over there. You will also find links to what other Happy Homemakers have to say this week. Check it out for a bit if you haven't been there before.

THE WEATHER IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS:

As I said, today is beautiful, the sun is shining, and it is to be warm. Most of the snow is gone, but you still see a few reminders where it was piled up. Tomorrow is to be a bit cooler and the rest of the week it is supposed to be up and down with temperatures all week. A normal thing for this time of the year.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY:

We celebrate my son and daughter-in-laws' upcoming new baby on Saturday. That made me so happy!

It was a nice day and she had a good amount of people there and they received some really nice gifts. They are anxiously awaiting the chance to be first time parents. They have plenty of learning ahead of them. They will do great though. They both have great jobs, and they will eventually be moving a little closer to us and I can't wait!

BOOK THAT I AM READING:

I have not had much time to read lately and so I am still trying to finish Run Rose Run by James Patterson and Dolly Parton. It is a good book, but time has certainly evaded me lately. Hopefully, I will have it finished by the time I write this again.

WHAT'S ON MY TV TODAY:

The only thing that I will have on today is Spiderman for the granddoll later. She loves Spidey!

ON THE BREAKFAST PLATE:

A very simple meal as my head hurts so bad. I had a mini bagel with cream cheese. My grand gets here at 6:30 so mornings can be hectic and usually breakfast is something quick and easy. Bagel accompanied by coffee was the menu today.

ON THE LUNCH PLATE:

Leftover taco meat and refried beans will be added to a soft tortilla and I may have a salad with it. Again, must be simple as we are teaching preschool for the grand.

ON THE DINNER PLATE:

Tonight's dinner will be BBQ pork steaks, cheddar and broccoli rice and cauliflower with broccoli and carrots in butter sauce. Wheat bread for my husband as well.

ON THE MENU:

Tuesday : Ham Hocks with Turnip Greens, yellow eyed beans, and corn.

Wednesday: Honey Chicken with gold potatoes, spinach or left over turnip greens

Thursday: Thinking of making a baked spaghetti although my husband is not a fan of pasta. Garlic bread too.

Friday: Fend for yourself as I am busy.

Saturday, I believe we have dinner plans and Sunday will be Super Bowl finger foods.

ON MY TO DO LIST:

Does this list ever end? Laundry, team motivational post for my small business, sweep and mop kitchen, take some books to free library, and maybe take a walk while we are there. I also have to feed and water chickens, clean the chicken coop, homeschool grand, and make a few calls.

NEW RECIPE I TRIED OR WANTED TO TRY:

I tried a new teriyaki chicken recipe last week with my husband and it was okay, but not really one that I can say I would try again. I won't share it as it was not share worthy. He seemed to like it, but I did not. Nothing new on the menu this week. I made raspberry muffins last night and my husband swore they were new, but they were not.

WHAT I AM CREATING:

Nothing is on the board at the moment as I have no time!

NO WORDS NEEDED:

DEVOTIONAL, PRAYER, OR BIBLE VERSE:

I have a prayer request today. My daughter is expecting twins and had an elevated doppler scan last week. We need her to carry the babies another 10 weeks ideally and with no problems. Please pray that tomorrow the doppler looks better and babies can safely stay where they need to be for another 10 weeks.
