New Month, New Weather

Happy December!!

I intended to write a Dec.1st post, but time got away and I never got to sit here and write, so a December 2nd post will work. A new month has brought us new challenges here on the farm as we are having below normal temperatures and snow. It began snowing yesterday around 5 p.m. and snowed most of the night resulting in about 4 inches of snow. Anyone that lives on a farm knows that it makes feeding animals and animal care harder and a much colder job.

Living in the country, it also means that the roads can become treacherous much easier than in town. A wet snow makes it more difficult and that is what we have leading us to our first e learning day for the kiddos. We are only allowed three e learning days and that amazes me since we are always out more days than that. It is sad that the school systems and state do not understand that we will miss more and need more days than three. It simply means that the kids must go to school longer in the summer, which always affects our summer plans.

It is cold here. Our high is to be 29 degrees F today with a low in the teens tonight. Skies are cloudy and that always makes me dread winter that much more. I am a sunshine girl and cloudy skies and dreary outside makes me feel that winter is so much longer than it is. Maybe the sun could shine just a few minutes a day would help. Many wrecks on the interstates this morning, so if you have snow wherever you are, be careful when you are driving.

It is going to be a day of playing games with the grands and making some warm foods for dinner as well as having some hot cocoa or tea. The tree and other Christmas lights will be glowing as well, and we will make the best of the day once chores are done outside. Lots of warm clothes today as well. My husband will be outside working and in his garage, but he does have good heat in it.

Take care and stay warm.
